In the next two weeks I will be introducing the Battle books. It is such an exciting event!! The first classroom battles will begin the first week of May, but we introduce the books now, so students have plenty of time to read as many as they can.
We had only 5 students read all 20 Bluestem books this winter, so I hope the Battle can entice more readers. There are a few new books on each list, but most of the books remain the same from year to year because I believe they are so good. The list has a wide variety of books from different genre, nonfiction and fiction, and a various reading levels so that all students should be able to find at least 3 books that they are able to read. Some of the books even have audio versions or have been video taped so students can listen and follow along to books they may not be able to read independently.
All the public libraries have copies of the books as well.
