All classes have completed two battle so far. This week will be the third battle. Most of the battles took place in the classrooms due to testing going on in the library. It was exciting to see the students collaborating together and discussing books.
During the first battle, each team was asked ten questions where they had to answer with the book title. They received 5 points if they answered correctly and an additional 1 point if they knew the author's name. Many teams soared ahead simply by knowing the author's name.
In the second battle, the students competed against the other teams answering questions about the various books. The teams used a buzzer when they knew an answer to a question and received 5 points for a correct answer, but this time lost 5 points for an incorrect answer. The scores really change throughout the battle. After the round of questions, students were given quotes to associate with one of the Battle books. The students had to provide evidence proving that the quote fit with the book they chose. That part was a 10 point bonus. No points deducted for an incorrect answer.
This week round three will include more questions with the buzzer, but each member of the team will come up to a table to compete with one other player from each team. After all students have had an opportunity to answer questions, the teams will get a mystery object to relate to a book. Again, the students must provide evidence to prove how the object relates to the book.
The final Battle will be on April 29
